One of the many reasons we recommend slide toppers on your slideout is due to an increased chance of water getting inside the RV if you dont have them. If you zoom in, you can see water on the floor. It was dripping from the top molding, down onto the table, splashing the couch and ending up in puddles on the floor and carpet.
When we purchased our RV, none of our 5 slideouts had a slidetopper, so we added them. Not only does it keep water off the top of the slideout, but it also creates a noise barrier. The sound of hard rain hitting the slideout (now slide topper) is muffled.
